The Winter season is upon us and Pedicab driver positions with Cabrio are not available at this time. Please check back with us in Spring, 2013 if you are interested in working with us. In the meantime, feel free to get your credentials in check. Information about how to to do this appears below.

Pedicab Credentialing & Licensing in San Francisco

To learn more about obtaining the proper permits and licenses in San Francisco, follow the instructions below. The process can take anywhere from 3-12 weeks, depending on scheduling for permit hearings.
  1. You’ll need a California driver’s license.
  2. Pick up your 3-year driving record at a local DMV. The SFPD requires that the printout comes from the DMV. SFPD will not accept printouts from the DMV website.
  3. Fill out the SFPD Pedicab Operator Application Form.
  4. Withdraw a money order from your bank or post office for $296.
  5. Obtain two passport sized photos.
  6. Bring the above to the San Francisco Police Department permit office on 850 Bryant Street and pass the SFPD pedicabber test (study guide below).
  7. When notified, go to your scheduled SFPD Permit Hearing on Wednesday at 1pm. The PD will mail you a postcard notifying you of the date in advance of your hearing.
  8. Go to the Tax Collector at City Hall prepared to pay around $60 (bring cash, they don't take credit or checks).
  9. Register as a self-employed business of the City of San Francisco for $25. Business application below.
